“I leave this magnificent institution today with a sense of duty accomplished. My greatest pride is to have contributed to the development of talented dancers and choreographers”
Aurélie Dupont
Aurélie Dupont has decided to give a new impetus to her career and to end her functions as Director of Dance at the Paris Opera in order to dedicate herself to personal projects (a book, a documentary film and a musical) and to her family. The management of the Paris Opera has acknowledged her decision with regret. Her departure will be effective on July 31, 2022.
The management and all the staff salute Aurélie Dupont for her magnificent career at the Paris Opera, since her arrival at the Opera’s dance school in 1983, her entry into the corps de ballet in 1989, her nomination as a Étoile dancer in 1998 and then as Director of Dance in 2016.
During her mandate, Aurélie Dupont has invested herself in a permanent concern for the evolution of the institution and has proposed 18 creations for the company, 23 entries in the repertoire, the nomination of 7 dancers stars, promoted the institution internationally by organizing numerous performances and has engaged with patrons, essential partners for the influence of the Opera. Sensitive to equal opportunities and the promotion of diversity within the corps de ballet, Aurélie Dupont has also contributed to the development of the dance medicine service.
Alexander Neef thanks Aurélie Dupont, whose talent, sensitivity and determination have been essential to the influence of the ballet company and the institution. He adds: “Aurélie Dupont will remain one of the most eminent figures of the Paris Opera and I wish her every success in the pursuit of her career”.
Aurélie Dupont declared on this occasion: “I leave this magnificent institution today with a sense of duty accomplished. My greatest pride is to have contributed to the development of talented dancers and choreographers. Working alongside brilliant directors, dancers, musicians, costume designers, stage managers and technicians has been an honor and a great pleasure. I would like to thank my directors for the trust they have placed in me and the ever-growing public.
The management of the Paris Opera has decided to set up a selection committee, chaired by Bernard Stirn, member of the Institute and Honorary President of the Board of Directors of the Paris Opera, to assist the General Director in choosing the future Director of Dance.
