Gustavo Dudamel

Reflecting on his departure, Gustavo Dudamel shares the following statement:
“With a heavy heart and after much contemplation, I announce my resignation from the position of Music Director of the Paris Opera to prioritize spending more time with my family.
Over the past two seasons, I have had the privilege of sharing extraordinary moments with the Orchestra, Chorus artists, and artistic teams of the Paris Opéra. We live in a time that has fundamentally transformed us, and it has deepened my appreciation for life. I have come to realize how much art and music enrich not only my daily life but also the lives of those around me.
At this time, my sole focus is being with my loved ones. I am profoundly grateful for their unwavering support in my constant pursuit of personal and artistic growth.”
Alexander Neef also offers his thoughts on the announcement:
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Gustavo Dudamel, whose immense talent and passion have greatly contributed to our company’s repertoire. He has cultivated a unique bond with the musicians of the Orchestra, the artists of the Chorus, the singers, and the artistic teams, characterized by mutual respect and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional performances together. The recent success of ‘Nixon in China’ stands as a remarkable testament to this collaboration. Gustavo Dudamel is an extraordinary musician, and I am deeply appreciative of the work he has accomplished during his tenure. I wholeheartedly respect his decision.”
