From the Comfort of your Living Room to the Paris Opera

If Americans cannot travel to France and Paris for the time being, if they cannot attend a performance held at the Paris Opera Bastille or Palais Garnier, they now can enjoy some of the best Parisian ballet and opera performances as well as special programs and concerts from the comfort of their living rooms.

L’Opéra chez soi, available as of now, brings together new or existing recordings operas, ballets and symphonic works, both live and recorded, as well as documentaries, educational content and 3e Scène creations.

Rudolf Nureyev’s ballet La Bayadère will be streamed live from the Opéra Bastille on Sunday 13 December at 830am EST and will be available for seven days afterwards. Around thirty works (recordings, films, etc.) are available online as of the launch; this selection will be regularly enriched to reflect the latest events and productions presented by the Paris Opera over the course of the seasons.

This initial offer will enable the Paris Opera to test a combined free and paying model available all over the world (except China), as part of an experimental approach.

The catalog includes Nureyev’s Swan Lake, Rigoletto, Lady MacBeth, Il Barbiera di Siviglia, Don Giovanni, and Falstaff among others.
